UPDATE ON HOW WE ARE UPLOADING YOUR LAB/TEST RESULTS

On March 1st, 2024, Sharp Hospitals converted to a new electronic health record system called EPIC. Many outpatient physician offices also elected to change to this system at this same time, but we decided to wait and observe this transition and perhaps join in the next 6-18 months. Unfortunately, this changeover did NOT anticipate the needs of physician offices outside of the EPIC system, and Sharp (including the affiliated Sharp Lab and X-ray Medical Group) has not been receptive nor helpful in solving our new issue(s) with making lab and other test results easily available for you to review.

You may already have a Sharp MyChart account. If so, you may log-in and find your labs and many of your other test results. If you are a new MyChart user, please sign up at https://app.sharp.com/sharpapp/Authentication/Login?

PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT EMAIL

Beginning 1/1/2024, most communications about lab/test results will be sent via email. If you are not computer savvy, you may ask for a printed copy or schedule an in-office visit to discuss in person.

UPDATED CHARGES FOR MISSED APPOINTMENTS

If you do not cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance, you will be charged $50 for a routine appointment, and $100 for a complete physical exam appointment. We strive every day to accommodate urgent patient issues. Missing an appointment without proper notification not only results in lost revenue for the office, but (more importantly) significantly affects our care for other patients.

FLU SEASON

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends an annual flu vaccine for ALL PERSONS 6 months of age and older, unless a contraindication excists (such as previous severe allergic reaction). This usually becomes available in late August or September each year.  Most local pharmacies offer this vaccine, and no prescription or order is necessary. Sharp Community Medical Group members are encouraged to use a Von's Pharmacy. If you think you may be due for other vaccines, such as Shingles or Pneumonia, please schedule an appointment with us to discuss the indications and frequency for these other vaccines.

COVID19 VACCINE NEWS

Dr. Daub recommends, with rare exceptions including cases of severe allergy history, that all patients 6 months of age and older obtain the COVID-19 vaccination. As of October, 2023, an updated COVID-19 vaccine is available, and offers significant protection against the most common, current strains of this virus. Please call your local pharmacy, or check the following website to find out more information and to make a vaccination appointment:
http://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/hhsa/programs/phs/community_epidemiology/dc/2019-nCoV/vaccines.html.

MOST PATIENT VISITS ARE NOW IN-OFFICE  (PHONE VISITS MAY BE OFFERED IN RARE CIRCUMSTANCES)

We are now fully-staffed and present in the office. We no longer require the use of a face mask. However, patients with respiratory symptoms who have notified us in advance of these symptoms are required to use a face mask/covering while in our office.

CORONAVIRUS COVID 19

If you have a fever and/or symptoms of an acute respiratory illness (e.g., cough, shortness of breath), please call our office to determine the next best step for your further evaluation. DO NOT present at our office without our advance notification, even if you have an already-scheduled appointment. Healthy patients with mild symptoms may simply be advised to treat their symptoms and convalesce at home without risking further community spread. Other patients may require an evaluation and stronger consideration for testing (or referral to an ER for possible hospitalization), especially if they have more severe symptoms, or a history of chronic medical problems associated with a higher risk for poorer outcomes (those older than 60 years of age, or those with diabetes, chronic heart/lung/kidney diseases, or on immunosupressant medications). Other patients who may need to be tested include those with symptoms and having had close contact with a suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 case.

For information and edcation about the crisis in San Diego, the United States and World, plese refer to the following websites: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/hhsa (San Diego Health and Human Services Agency), http://www.cdc.gov (Centers for Disease Control), http://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus and covid19.healthdata.org (two sites which offer very useful statistics).

DOCUMENT YOUR COVID VACCINATIONS

Log-in to your chart and select "Medical History", then "+Add New Immunization". You may then add the vaccinations you have received. Please note that patients who share or document with our office a fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination history will be immediately discharged.
